Pet Project; Commissioned Work
My cat, Jakota, was the subject of my very first pet portrait. During the worst night of my life, her calm feline energy kept me tethered to the world. I loved her completely. When I started this pet project I asked friends and family for photos and stories about the pets in their lives. The stories I received back were so poignant and heartfelt. The details they shared brought me a lot of joy, and I held their stories in my heart as I painted. Each one of these portraits are one-of-a-kind mini masterpieces that honors the bond between human and animal.
