Portfolio > Cities

Cities are monuments of what people can achieve together, for better or for worse. Each city has it's own unique vibe, and with this series I began to explore ways of portraying that into one visual image. I played with the idea of creating vibe by having 2 perspectives, the physical and the mental. As for the physical I tried to vary it up; "Where I Got Born" is painted from a photo taken at the World Trade South Tower, that looks down at the Empire State Building, "La Biblia" is a view of downtown El Paso that I frequently pass by in my car, painted from memory, "Glass City" is a view of a city that is not real, as if you just discovered it while peering through the bushes. My personal perspective is communicated by the colors and textures of the painting itself. For me, these two elements create the vibe.
