The Day of the Dead has become increasingly popular here on the El Paso border and one of my favorite holidays. I love the way it celebrates and confronts the inevitable fact of our own deaths. Death is the great equalizers. As I grow older and closer to my own death, it makes me happy to think that I will live on in the hearts and minds of my loved ones.
